‘DANCERS’ marks the fifth release by YAN WAGNER under the politically inspired, satirical pseudonym he first coined in 2014 – THE POPULISTS. It includes four cuts of ruggedly crafted, dark disco, electronica and leftfield dance. A return to Lumière Noire after his track ‘PREHISTORIC LEMURS’ was released on their VA ‘FROM ABOVE VOL.2’ in 2020. Yan has most recently collaborated with GESAFFELSTEIN on his latest album ‘GAMMA’ as a vocalist and has scored the soundtrack for ‘ANIMALE’ a film that will be shown at the 63rd edition of Cannes Film Festival during the closing of ‘La Semaine de la Critique’.
Established CDMX artist THEUS MAGO brings his post-psychedelic dance sounds to Lumière Noire Records in the form of his ‘LA CABEZA’ EP, with the title cut released as a single on 14th June ahead of the whole EP release on 28th.
SlOMO A/V is an immersive audio and visual experience based on an enigmatic dialogue between sounds and images. A few seconds away from hypnosis, this performance plunges us into worlds and climates that are sensitive to the most imperceptible movements and revolutions that build us.
Parisian electronic artist CHLOÉ and her Lumière Noire Records imprint explore new pastures in 2024, leaning into more club-focused sounds with an immersive new compilation series titled ‘FLASH’. Lumière Noire’s new VA collection welcomes a slew of international talent, providing a wave of experimental flavours with definitive underground gradients. ‘FLASH VOL. 1’ plays host to four unique cuts, delivered by DANSE ALICE, LOUEN POPPÉ, LEONOR & FAUSTO and KIKE AM RADAR.
The night is a time of metamorphosis and (re)birth. SAPPHIST EYE emerged from a parallel world where clubs and raves embody an ideal of freedom and collective experience. This project came about spontaneously as a matter of course, the descendant of a line of strong, creative women who have helped redefine electronic music and its spaces.
After collaborations with the BARBI(E)TURIX collective and the Les Disques du Lobby label (alongside NAOMINITEL), her first solo EP, ANOTHER SIDE, captures a very particular universe in today's techno scene, never fully choosing between the mental and the physical, dance and transcendence. SAPPHIST EYE independently produced this collection of tracks, which combines roundness and power without being overwhelmed by her sonic quest.
FROM ABOVE VOL. 3, fortieth reference (already!) of Lumière Noire and third compilation of the label is a record in its own right. Let's say that it would be a pity to classify it in the "commercial sampler" category or to reduce it to a "random" playlist. This collection of unreleased tracks functions as a journey, a celebration of a community spirit as much as of the ethics defended by Chloé's label.
NICOL's first EP on Lumière Noire comes with three tracks as explosive as amazing. From the title that gives its name to the EP and its twilight techno, percussive and haunted by ghostly vocals to ROULÉ BOULÉ (a nod to Thomas Bangalter's Roulé label), a banger of dysfunctional, strident and hallucinated electro. Without forgetting VEGAN PONY and its more classic and minimal techno, poisonous and devilishly sexy with, as a bonus, a remix of "Roulé Boulé", more mental and psychedelic, signed by CORNELIUS DOCTOR, the mysterious artist from Lyon known for his discoid techno sounds.
Born in 2017 when DJ/producer CHLOÉ and Bulgarian percussionist VASSILENA SERAFIMOVA came together to revisit STEVE REICH’s “Music for 18 Musicians,” the album SEQUENZA – a mesmerizing fusion of sequencers and marimbas, of scholarly classical music and electronic club grooves – released in October 2021 on Lumière Noire, now sees some of its flagship tracks brilliantly remixed by KRIKOR, ASA MOTO, DONATO DOZZY, IRÈNE DRÉSEL and PIONAL.
Mexican producer IÑIGO VONTIER is back at Lumière Noire, making a habit of it since 2018 (with three EPs and an album already), his new EP DESPIERTA ("wake up" in Spanish) is an invitation to dance.
After asking CHLOÉ to collaborate on the soundtrack of her show STATIC SHOT (2020), MAUD LE PLADEC has called upon the producer and DJ again for COUTING STARS WITH YOU (musiques femmes)". A new ambitious, militant and feminist creation made for the 2021 season of MONTPELLIER DANSE. The dancer and choreographer, accompanied by six dancers, uses dance and song to explore the unspoken, the marginalisation and the representation of women musicians from the Middle Ages to the present day by summoning historical and contemporary figures such as Kassia of Constantinople, Barbara Strozzi, Giovanna Marini and Clara Schuman...
“Musical love at first sight” is one way to describe the genesis of the duo formed by CHLOÉ and Bulgarian percussionist VASSILENA SERAFIMOVA. An impromptu meeting that has since turned into a lasting collaboration, culminating in the release of their first joint album this fall after four years of on-stage and in-studio complicity.
The Spanish producer is back on CHLOÉ’s label with a bang, presenting three tracks from his last album remixed for the dancefloors. From Same Old Blues, entrusted to TIM PARIS (who increases the tempo, transforming the initial ballad into an after-party bomb) to A Trap For Fools, revisited by PLETNEV in dark metallic electro tribute to KRAFTWERK, through to I'm Diggin', wherein THOMASS JACKSON turns the psychedelia of the original version into a hypnotic, ominous, trance, Phylax Society Remixes is a wonderful invitation to dance on the wilder side.
Static Shot is a choreographic project by MAUD LE PLADEC conceived for the dancers of the CCN-Ballet de Lorraine.
In Static Shot, everything tells the story of the excess of bodies and their relationship to the music of CHLOÉ
and PETE HARDEN. Like a permanent climax, the 24 dancers of the Ballet de Lorraine hold this culminating point together, the energy always having to be at its zenith. The piece, composed of an accumulation of "blocks" of bodies, images and sounds, plays with the codes of dance alternating between gestures from "pop" culture and "learned" culture.
The DESTIINO project is a sort of tormented alter ego for YUKSEK, a step away from conventional creative processes and towards spontaneous improvisation. During sessions (some of which taking place at visual artist XAVIER VEILHAN’s Studio Venezia), the Rheims-born electronic producer took to exploring new sonic horizons. Eschewing overly-wrought melodies, DESTIINO delves into dark atmospheres, experiments with textures, and surrenders to feverish flights of fancy.

SUTJA GUTIERREZ is back on Lumière Noire. The finesse of his productions and his implacable stage performances have given him a special place within the Parisian label. In 2017, he released the EP The Legend of Time and one year later, he appeared on the compilation From Above with his track Allodoxaphobia. He comes back here with an LP entitled Phylax Society, which confirms that Sutja Gutierrez is indeed an artist in his own right.
Our 30th release brings together first-class duo RODION & ALEJANDRO PAZ on a 4-track EP filled with crooning vocals, EBM-influenced techno and an hypnotic remix from FABRIZIO MAMMARELLA.

He comes back here with an LP entitled PHYLAX SOCIETY, which confirms that SUTJA GUTIERREZ is indeed an artist in his own right. Ahead of the album release, the label is releasing one of the record’s standout tracks, Empty Flower Pots, along with a remix by Spanish prolific DJ and producer AFFKT.
As a co-founder of the Midi Deux nights, a member of the Qui Embrouille Qui collective alongside DJ AZF, a former resident and curator at La Machine du Moulin Rouge, talented Rennes DJ and producer THÉO MULLER has, over the last few years, multiplied his involvement in the French electronic scene while putting his Breton origins at the forefront.
Under his own name, he contributed the deep track Douce Transe on Lumière Noire’s inaugural various artists compilation, 2018’s From Above, and released his debut EP, Finistère Amer, on the label Concrète. Following up with a second outing on Lumière Noire was almost an inevitability.
Balani reveals the perfect synthesis of the two artists’ specific musical artistry: the intoxicating sounds of VASSILENA's marimba arranged and shaped by CHLOÉ's electronic production. The electronic beats and sequences which start out understated, wind around several percussion loops with added effects, all gradually escalating to culminate in a wild euphoria.
From the moment of its release, IÑIGO VONTIER’s El Hijo del Maiz has become one of the most gripping albums of the moment. With South American and Middle Eastern sounds and his conception of music as ritual, the Mexican DJ keeps electronica in check as a valid mix of influences.
The EP El Hijo Del Maiz Remixes, marks the end of an episode which started, in good company, in autumn 2019 on the Lumière Noire label.
Back in 2018, Lumière Noire celebrated its first anniversary with a compilation featuring thirteen exclusive tracks by an eclectic group of electronic musicians – a family portrait of sorts. A few months later, a second volume of From Above, compiled by the label’s artistic director (and DJ) CHLOÉ, once more brings thirteen established acts together with promising upstarts.
El Hijo del Maiz is an album-length confirmation of IÑIGO VONTIER’s uniqueness, and his adherence to Lumière Noire’s policy of letting artists fully express their vision – while letting their passions guide their idiosyncrasies and explorations of innovative electronic signatures.
That record's four astounding tracks (complete with a TOLOUSE LO TRAX remix) further refined the producer’s approach to dark disco: off-kilter and bordering on the iconoclastic, but always dancefloor oriented. At the same time, the Jalisco native demonstrated how one can very much stand out on the worldwide electronic music scene while remaining faithful to one’s roots, infusing the EP’s hypnotic mid-tempo grooves with haunting incantations to Mayan deities – and other mischievous mythological creatures.
LOCAL SUICIDE, aka Munich's Brax Moody and Greek-born Vamparela, has it in spades. And following releases on labels such as Bordello, My Favorite Robot, Multi Culti, Roam, Duro and OMBRA, it only made sense that the duo would eventually find its way to Lumière Noire.
Over the past few months, BAJRAM BILI has been a revelation at Lumière Noire. On the label's compilation From Above, the French producer drew praise from listeners, DJs and critics alike with the eight housey, cerebral minutes of his contribution, Restart.
Performed over a year at events such as Nuits Sonores, Sónar, Mutek (in Montréal and Mexico), The Peacock Society, and festivals such as Marsatac, Musilac and Colors of Ostrava, Endless Revisions’ live performance has evolved with every show. It was out of the question to let these new versions – replayed, recreated and restructured alongside the evolution of the performance’s very architecture – fade away without a trace.
Endless Revisions – CHLOÉ’s first LP in over six years – saw the musician turn a new leaf in her creative journey.
Not content with pushing the boundaries of her creative output with this wider palette of an album, CHLOÉ released Endless Revisions Live, which saw the producer graft the new material and inspiration that came out while playing live on stage back onto the album’s compositions.
Fall for the seductive chiaroscuro of this Parisian newcomer’s debut 4-track EP for Lumière Noire. The uncovering of talents such as MORGAN BLANC is a good way to gauge a label’s vitality.
The 28-year-old DJ and producer has been honing his craft since 2015 behind the decks of some of the best clubs in Europe: Badaboum, Petit Bain and Katerblau.
With this 13-track, unmixed compilation, CHLOÉ makes a case for a label aesthetic that is based in open-mindedness. Familiar, elemental Lumière Noire artists are represented, as are new faces, producing a kind of group photo presaging what’s next for the fledgling label.
CHLOÉ
Take Care (EP)
2005
The cornerstone track from CHLOÉ’s new album, an adventurously dark landscape dotted by Montreal rock band Suuns’ singer BEN SHEMIE’s vocals, Recall deserved this long-awaited quartet of astounding remixes, which serve as extensions of her latest full-length Endless Revisions’ second single.
While CHLOÉ has long transcended her image as the “DJette” behind legendary club night Pulp, headlining the Rex as well as clubs and festivals throughout Europe, Endless Revisions represents yet another deviation from rigid genre classification, deepening the often-linear perspectives on current music. A rich and multi- faceted work, the artist’s captivating third album drifts from one mystery to the other.
Following her brand-new album Endless Revisions’ stellar first single The Dawn, CHLOÉ goes down an ever more adventurous path with Recall.
Very special guest BEN SHEMIE, vocalist for Montréal’s mesmerizing Suuns, lends his voice to the track’s nebulous atmosphere. «Suuns is one of those rare bands whose music is felt through the body first. It’s a very disorienting feeling,» CHLOÉ observes.
«Since I was little, I’ve been immersed in the culture of the Mexican Aztecs and Mayas. So, logically, I’m attracted to magic and spells. Mixing both in my music is the perfect combination of my tastes and my roots».
As soon as the needle hits Aluxes («it’s the name of forest spirits, and it’s pronounced ‘aloo-chess’,» according to IÑIGO) a channel to occult forces does seem to open up.
We set the scene: motorcycles blazing from the airport strip to the strip joint, our heroes traded their Oberkampf stomping grounds for a sleepless weekend of Spanish groupies, discount bikinis, whiskey and bukkake. And a creative spurt that left us with a mutant of a record, the sound of rock and techno crashing through a drum kit mid-coitus, interrupted by La French Chanson, who stumbles into the hotel room thinking its hers.
The Dawn is CHLOÉ's inaugural release on her own label Lumière Noire, which she recently set up as a separate entity – after using the name for a collection of releases over the last few months, and of course for her infamous Rex Club night, which has since 2014 become a bit of a club house for Parisian electronic music fans.
This EP is brought to you by Spanish musician and vocalist SUTJA GUTIERREZ. His eclectic and hyperactive personal style brings together experimental lo-fi pop with electronic and psychedelic elements.
Paris La Blanche is the first film score by CHLOÉ THEVENIN, better known by the mononym CHLOÉ. This is far from being her first collaboration with LIDIA LEBER TERKI, however, having contributed music to all of the filmmaker’s shorts, while she returned the favor by directing all of her videos.
